Ari Brynjolfsson: Time Dilation and Supernovas Ia Plasma Redshift, Time Dilation, and Supernovas Ia Ari Brynjolfsson ∗ Applied Radiation Industries, 7 Bridle Path, Wayland, MA 01778, USA The measurements of the absolute magnitudes and redshifts of supernovas Ia show that con- ventional physics, which includes plasma redshift, fully explains the observed magnitude-redshiftrelation of the supernovas. The only parameter that is required is the Hubble constant, whichin principle can be measured independently. The contemporary theory of the expansion of theuniverse (Big Bang) requires in addition to the Hubble constant several adjustable parameters,such as an initial explosion, the dark matter parameter, and a time adjustable dark energyparameter for explaining the supernova Ia data. The contemporary Big Bang theory also re-quires time dilation of distant events as an inherent premise. The contention is usually that thelight curves of distant supernovas show or even prove the time dilation. In the present article,we challenge this assertion. We document and show that the previously reported data in factindicate that there is no time dilation. The data reported by Riess et al. in the AstrophysicalJournal in June 2004 confirm the plasma redshift, the absence of time dilation, dark matter,and dark energy.

The use of batteries as a prime power source is on the rise. As a result, a burden has been placed on the system designer to create sophisticated systems utilizing the battery's full potential. Each application is unique, but one common theme rings through: maximize battery capacity usage. This theme directly relates to how energy is properly restored to rechargeable batteries. No single method is ideal for all applications. An understanding of the charging characteristics of the battery and the application's requirements is essential in order to design an appropriate and reliable battery charging system. Each method has its associated advantages and disadvantages. It is the particular application with its individual requirements that determines which method will be the best to use. Far too often, the charging system is given low priority, especially in cost-sensitive applications. The quality of the charging system, however, plays a key role in the life and reliability of the battery. In this article, the fundamentals of charging Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) batteries are explored. In particular, linear charging solutions and a microcontroller-based, switch-mode solution shall be explored. Microchip's MCP73843 and MCP73861 linear charge management controllers and PIC16F684 microcontroller along with a MCP1630 pulse width modulator (PWM), shall be used as examples. LI-ION CHARGING The rate of charge or discharge is often expressed in relation to the capacity of the battery. This rate is known as the C-Rate. MEASURING ACADEMIC NUMERACY: BEYOND COMPETENCE TESTING University of Southern Queensland Academic numeracy consists of three critical elements: competence, confidence, and critical awareness of students' own mathematical knowledge and the mathematics used in students' future professions. This definition is used to frame pre-test assessment in a first year nursing program. Competence and confidence were measured using a paper and pencil test. Critical awareness was measured via students' reflections on their own performance, their relationship to mathematics, and their understanding of how mathematics relates to nursing. Results show issues related to professional numeracy practices including relatively low understanding of the connection between mathematics and nursing.

Resolution of Severe Constipation, Vomiting and Leg Pain in a Child Undergoing Subluxation Based Chiropractic Care: A Case Report Michael Mills, D.C.1 & Joel Alcantara, D.C.2 Objective: To describe the chiropractic care of a 6-year-old male with complaints of chronic constipation, daily vomitingand "growing pains". Clinical Features: The patient's constipation began at 2 years of age and has been under medical care since. Standardphysical examination and endoscopic examinations revealed a "small stomach ulcer." Prescription medication since age 4years involved 3 caps of Miralax at three times daily, Exlax one time per day, 10mg capsules of Lasoprizole once per dayand Periactin to stimulate hunger. With respect to the patient's leg pain complaint, the patient's mother indicated that herson had recently complained of leg pain without cause and denied any history of trauma to her son's legs. Chiropracticexamination revealed sites of spinal and extraspinal subluxations.

Therefore the findings of creativity research should be thoroughly considered in organisations where innovation processes are required. This review summarises the literature in the field of work place creativity, with special attention given to R&D environments. Current theoretical models of creativity are discussed and a literature review of the influence of (i) motivation, (ii) interaction within work groups and between group leaders and members, and (iii) organisational culture and environment on creativity is undertaken. GODAE ocean assimilation systems are able to provide prognostic data for currents, temperature and salinity in the open ocean, with global coverage, and are now being used in oil spill fate forecasting systems around the world. Examples are given of the different ways that the ocean forcing data are implemented in various oil spill modeling systems, including both direct application and via nesting of local hydrodynamical models. The most important benefits of the GODAE data sets are improved prediction accuracy, glo-bal coverage and the availability of alternative data sets for a given area. In addition, the use of GODAE data sets has proven to be a boon to international cooperation on marine pollution response.

Coaching for Health What the module is about This module is written for healthcare professionals about how to coach people in addressing health related goals in clinical settings. It covers the reasons why the topic is of importance and the evidence base for this way of working. It gives some examples of the skills and techniques that can be used and exercises for you to practise. By the end of the module you should have become more aware of the value of coaching people for health, learned more about different models and thought about opportunities to use some of the techniques. You will also have an opportunity to apply the learning from the module to your own practice through carrying out activities and reflecting on these. You may want to use the questions in this module as a focus for discussion in a self-directed learning group. Coaching for Health is a huge area.
